Sister's Speicalty Training, January 2015

We were so blessed today to have all the Sisters in our mission join us for a wonderful day of training, lunch, and spending time together. Each sister is important to this mission. It doesn't matter their age or where they serve. Each Sister is a blessing to us in the NYNYN. We focused our thoughts on the story of Ruth in the Old Testament. Ruth 2: 11-12
"...thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore. The Lord recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust."
President Morgan said, "Learn about yourself today and the destiny Heavenly Father has for you. Today, receive more faith and more understanding."
Sister Jill Freihofner  gave a beautiful talk about how Ruth had courage and faith. She faced hardship and happiness. She said to each Sister, "Your own story will have all these things, see your story through, to the end, with happiness. If you will be like Ruth and hold on with unshaken faith, you will look back and be joyful." She also said that when you struggle on the mission, or just in life, remember all your blessings and draw strength from them.

Sister Jennifer Darger came today and spoke about being confident missionaries. She said, "Being humble is to recognize our dependence on the Lord. Thru Him, in our weakness, we find strength. Being confident is to recognize the power of God in our lives" President Hinckley said, "I believe in myself and I can make a difference.", we all need to believe in ourselves. Isiah 30:15 says, "...in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength:"

Bishop Kem Nixon was also a speaker today and he talked about how to handle stress of missionary life better. He talked about coping skills, relaxing and meditation techniques.
Learning from Bishop Nixon

We feel so blessed to share this work with these amazing Sisters of the NYNYN.

We had 2 zones sing musical numbers today. The China Town zone sang, I'll Go Where You Want Me To Go, accompanied by Sister Ng.

The Sisters in the Westchester Zone sang, The Lord is My Shephard
With 97 Sisters and other guests, we had salad bar for 105 today. Each sister frosted sugar cookies for dessert.

Elder Moss and Elder Johanson, (Office Elders) have decided that eating salad for lunch is pretty great!

Shannon Call was a huge help today. She has been our adopted daughter in law while we have been in New York. We are so thankful for Jeff, Shannon and Axel Call. Her willingness to always help is such a blessing! Axel has become a huge fan of "Grandpa Tom"

President Morgan had some Q&A time with the sisters after lunch.

We sang to the sisters who will be leaving in February of this year.

Sister Astle, Sister Palmer, Sister Toronto, Sister Dodson, Sister Hoyos, Sister Tirado

Sister Livingston and Sister Arquero
Sister Morgan closed by asking each sister to be wrapped up in love, wrapped up in service, and wrapped up in missionary work. Each sister was able to choose a pashmina scarf to help them remember to be wrapped up in the Love of the Savior.

THANK YOU SISTERS OF THE NEW YORK NEW YORK NORTH MISSION!!
WE LOVE YOU!

One of the best pictures of the whole day was of these wonderful husbands, office elders and Assistants taking the pictures!
