December 2012

This month started out with a visit from Elder Paul and Sister Jill Johnson of the Seventy. We were lucky to have them visit our mission for a mission tour. They were so great to come and speak to all our missionaries about being a High Yield, Low Matainance missionary.  They both brought a wonderful spirit to our mission. It was a perfect way to start off the Christmas Season. We were even able to take all the couples to Rockefeller Center to see the huge tree on the plaza and also see the Rocketts!

We are so grateful for our wonderful Assistants. Elder Ward and Elder Fusco have become a part of our family.
Ryan will miss Elder Ward

Elder Ward as our own little Santa Claus
We then said goodbye to 5 wonderful missionaries. Sister Tuakalua, Sister Major, Elder Ward, Elder Anderson, and Elder Clark.
We welcomed 4 new missionaries this transfer. Elder Longmore, Elder Hanson, Elder Garibay, and Sister Valdez.
We were thrilled to have Elder Hutchins as a new assistant to President Morgan. Elder Hutchins and Elder Fusco will bring great leadership and friendship to all of our missionaries!
On December 21, 2013 we had an all mission Christmas Party. It was wonderful to have every missionary together. We had a Christmas devotional and some of our very talented missionaries shared some beautiful music! We sang Christmas songs and ate a fabulous Christmas feast together. We love our missionaries and have loved getting to know each and every one of them in the last 6 months.
We are so blessed to have a large supportive family that made over 200 Christmas stockings and stuffed them with all kinds of goodies for our missionaries. Everyone loved their gifts and we appreciate the service given to us by each member of the Fisher Family!

The Power comes on in November 2012

WOW! 13 days without power has been a challenge. We even had a transfer during this time. 12 new missionaries came to the mission home and we gave them all a flashlight and told them to go find a bed to sleep in. Thank goodness for a crockpot that could cook dinner! The generator was such a blessing during all this; and we only had to wait in line for gasoline for about 1 1/2 hours to refuel the tanks. It will be a transfer that we won't forget. Testimony meeting by the fire and with candles was a special time.

Our first snowfall came on the night of transfers when 11 of our wonderful missionaries were headed home. The snow was beautiful, even without any power here. We love these valiant servants who weathered the storms of all their mission experiences.

The rest of November 2012 was spent in the clean-up from Hurricane Sandy. It was a great blessing for all of us to be able to go to the NYNY South Mission and help on many, many different days. Most of our time was spent in the Rock-a-Ways area of Long Island. The Wards and Stakes from our mission were able to give many hours of service in the clean-up.
NYNY North and NYNY South Missions UNITED! We love President and Sister Calderwood and their family who helped to organize this amazing and overwhelming effort!

October 2012 in New York

This month in the mission was a crazy one. We LOVED watching General Conference here with some of our missionaries and even had a waffle party at the mission home in between sessions. We were able to attend a wonderful mission presidents conference in Kirkland, Ohio and really loved seeing the sights there. It was also great so see the other couples that we were in the MTC with. Then Hurricane Sandy hit! The mission home was out of power for 13 days! It never gets boring out here!!
We had 2 new ASL missionaries come and they have added a good feeling to this wonderful district. Elder Pemberton and Elder Marshall will be great here.

Beautiful Kirtland Temple

Our dear friends Mark and Karlan Richards of the Baltimore Maryland mission. It is a huge blessing for us to be serving at the same time!
HURRICANE SANDY!!

When the hurricane hit we lost power at the mission home and didn't have any power for the next 13 days. We had a generator to run  the fridge and a few lights. We were so thankful that all our missionaries were OK. Only a few missionaries lost power in the city for a couple of days. Ryan was out of school for almost 2 weeks. It was quite an experience!!
